Build A Dream

Build a Dream Northern Kentucky  is a project of the Safety Net Alliance (SNA) of Northern Kentucky.  SNA was founded in 2007 after a group of concerned safety net providers came together in response to diminishing resources and increasing demand. The mission of the SNA is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of safety net services provided to Northern Kentuckians in need.  Build A Dream is an annual project, created in 2015, that builds 100 brand new beds for 100 children, ages 3-17, who reside in Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties.  The beds come with a brand new mattress, pillow, sheets, comforter, hygiene kit, and book.  Every bed is delivered to the child’s home and assembled in the home by volunteers.  Build A Dream was formed after a group of Safety Net Alliance partner agencies identified a need for children to have access to beds.  If children are getting their basic needs met, that not only means the children are better off now but that they are better positioned to have success in school and, down the road, have a better chance of succeeding in the labor market.  Additionally, supporting our children through Build a Dream can be considered a work support for the adults (parents or caregivers) in their lives because having healthy and thriving children enables adults to experience a higher level of success in the workforce.
